Medal of Honor for the U.S. Air Force

Authorized by an Act of Congress in August 1956 and established by the Air Force in 1965.

A five-pointed star rests on a ring of laurel leaves. Within the star is the head of the Statue of Liberty surrounded by 34 stars. The star is suspended above a bar inscribed "Valor" and an eagle adapted from the Air Force coat of arms.
